Pictures of recent progress ( 2022)

January 2022 - This is what the castle looks like in January 2022.

I have gotten several messages from people who follow this webpage. They have been concerned that I have not posted any new photos this year. Some of them thought that something had happened to me or Queen Patricia. Well, we are getting older and slowing down, but we are still here, and I plan to do a little work this year. I will post things if they seem to be anything at all interesting. Thank you to all who contacted me, I appreciate your concern.

1-22-2022 This is a photo of our thermometer on January 22, 2022. The outside temp was down to .5 degree. It almost never gets this close to zero around here. We are looking forward to it warming up.

6-8-2022 This is a photo of some of the crenellations on the tower connected to the great hall. You can see that the crenel on the left has a concrete slab covering the bottom. The crenel on the right does not. I still have three of these that need to be made and put in place.

6-8-2022 This is a photo of the custom form I made to pour the concrete for the crenel bottom pieces. The concrete has been poured, now I need to wait a few days for it to harden up enough to move up to the top of the tower.

6-9-2022 One of the next things I want to do is to install the electrical wiring for the three chandeliers that will be installed in the great hall. This photo shows one of the electrical boxes that will hold a chandelier. Normally, a box is just nailed to a 2X12, but for something as heavy as a chandelier, I put an extra piece between the 2X12's and screw the box to it.

6-9-2022 This is a photo of two of the chandeliers I am going to install. The one on the left will be installed in the center of the great hall, and I have two of the smaller ones (on the right), and they will be installed one toward each end of the great hall. I got these chandeliers at an auction a while back. They were once installed in Berkeley Castle which is less than ten miles from where we are located. The big chandelier is about four feet across. It is perfect for our great hall.

6-10-2022 Anyone that follows this webpage knows I love animals and I often mention them on this page. This is "Momma Deer". She has been coming around for years, and has had many children. It's not difficult to tell that she is in "the family way" again. It looks like there may be twins in there.

6-10-2022 Another animal I should mention is a new cat that showed up here a couple of weeks ago. He looked very thin, so we assume he is a stray. He seems like a nice cat, he lets me pet him, and will sometimes climb onto my lap. Our other cats have seen him, and there seems to be no hissing from any of them.
