Pictures of recent progress (
2020)
1-7-2020 This is what the castle looks like on the 7th of January 2020.
2-10-2020 We had a visit today from some deer friends of ours.
4-6-2020 I have had a few inquires about the fact that I had not posted any new photos about progress lately. I have been very slow to get started this year. This is a photo of the first meaningful work that I have done so far in 2020. This was the last exterior wall of the great hall that did not have the studs installed. The studs are up now. I still have more wall studs to install around the bathrooms and the kitchen area in the great hall.
4-24-2020 I have been working on the wall studs in the great hall. These latest walls are for the two half baths (one to the left, and one to the right), and another room.
4-24-2020 This is another photo of these new wall studs. To the left is going to be one of the half baths, and to the right is an eight foot by eight foot room that could be used for various things. It could be used for storage, or if someone ever gets the great hall finished to the point that it could be used for weddings, this could be used for the bride to get ready for the wedding.
4-27-2020 This is what the other end of this area looks like now. This the main section of the great hall, it is 18 feet wide and 53 feet long. The part of the wall on the left that does not have any studs is where the future fireplace will be located.
4-28-2020 I also have poured the concrete for two more of the slabs that go on the top of the walls. There are many more of these to do.
4-29-2020 The people we hired to guard the castle are some of the laziest people I have ever seen.
5-15-2020 This is our new best friend. His name is Smokey and he is a very sweet dog.
5-23-2020 While on our walk this morning, we came upon a new friend. Not sure what her name is, she didn't say much.
5-31-2020 Another new friend showed up this morning. I told her to come back just before Thanksgiving.
6-17-2020 Not much going on around here these days, but I did start doing some electrical wiring in the great hall. This is a wall switch I want to connect to a ceiling light.
6-17-2020 Unfortunatly, someone has built a house on top of the ceiling box where I want to install the light fixture.
6-17-2020 Someday I will be able to take it down, but I need to wait till these people hatch, grow up, and "leave the nest".
7-8-2020 This our first spotted fawn of the year. We have seen it a few times before in the last couple of weeks, but this is the first time I could get a photo. Like all young'uns, it sure is cute.
7-9-2020 Speaking of being cute, this one of the two kittens I am taking care of for a while. They were feral when they got here, but are pretty tame now. This one says when she grows up, she wants to be a computer repair person. If you would like to see the kitties in action, go here:

7-12-2020 I checked on my bird nest this morning and found that the five eggs have disapeared. They have been replaced by some little fuzzy creatures with large beaks. I only see three, I don't know if the other two are under these three, or if for some reason, they didn't make it. I'll check back from time to time.
7-16-2020 They grow up so fast.
7-18-2020 This is the first one to get out of the nest. I doubt that he is able to fly very well quite yet.
7-19-2020 This is the first baby turtle I have found near the castle. I have seen many adult turtles over the years, but they are much larger than this one. She is a cutie.
7-19-2020 I brought her into the castle to say hello to Patty, and then I brought her out and put her on the floor of the gatehouse. I told her she needed to cross the drawbridge in order to get back to the woods where I found her. She immediatly headed across the drawbridge. You can see the video of that here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diY-8bo3CAw
7-19-2020 Here she is back in the woods. She was nowhere to be found the next time I passed this location. I hope she has a happy life.
7-20-2020 We sure do have a lot of critters around here. Today, I spotted loopie the lizard trying to keep cool by sitting on a log in the shade.
9-4-2020 One of the things I wanted to get done this year is to get the exterior doors installed in the great hall. I now have one of them in place. I still have some shimming and trimming to do on this door.
11-18-2020 Our friend Bucky stopped by today. We almost never see him. His girlfriends stop by almost every day, but he stays hidden out there in the woods because there are hunters around.
11-24-2020 Steve and Jackie got engaged here at the castle last year. They have since gotten married, and stopped by to visit with us when they were in the neighborhood. We enjoyed their company, and hope they can get back again soon.
