(Under Construction)
This is an artists conception of what the castle will look like when finished.
It looks like we may all need to live in castles soon to protect us from our government.

Pictures of recent progress (
2011)
1-1-2011 This is what the castle looks like at the beginning of 2011. Mother nature
seems to think we like snow. This time, it's just about 2 inches.
1-31-2011 We've been hit again. We have about 8 inches this time. This is a photo
of our driveway. I've gone down it with Moatmonster the backhoe, now I need to cut off
a few small trees that are bent over from the weight of the snow.
2-2-2011 I have managed to get a little work done on the castle. This is a photo of
the rest of the third floor hallway. I have just finished installing the wallboard here.
To see the other half of this hallway, look at the photo posted on 5-11-2010.
2-19-2011 This is what the area looks like now. I have hung the light and a few pictures.
This photo was taken looking up the stairway.
2-20-2011 Next, I guess I'll get started on the tower connected to the king's chamber.
Just about the only places that still need wallboard are this room and the tower room
off the kitchen.
3-1-2011 The ceiling in the king's chamber tower is now finished except for painting.
The hole you see is the doorway to the small attic above. I will make a door for this
someday. As far as the attic goes, I heard a rumor that someone named Repunzel lives
up there, but I've never seen her.
3-2-2011 At the moment, I don't have the 1/4 inch bendable drywall that I need to do
the walls of the kings tower, so I am going to do the ceiling in the tower off the
kitchen.
3-4-2011 The drywall has now been installed on the ceiling in the kitchen tower.
It still needs a little sanding and paint.
3-19-2011 The drywall has been installed on the walls of the kings tower.
I still need to do the final sanding, and put on a coat of primer. The boxes
you see sitting on the floor will be installed around the windows.
4-10-2011 We were visited by our good friend Anita (center). She brought
her daughter Ellen and Ellen's husband Thomas. We had a good time, we're
glad they came.
4-12-2011 The wallbaord work is done and the window boxes are in place in the
king's tower. I have a coat of primer on the walls. I still need to paint,
have carpet installed, and install a light fixture.
4-23-2011 Today, we were visited by Ed, Adam, James, and Chris. They seem to
have an interest in castles, perhaps one of them will build one someday.
It was an enjoyable visit.
5-15-2011 While walking Gailn along the road a few days ago, Patty heard a
meow from the grass along side the road. It turned out to be Fuzzy the cat.
He is a kitten about 7 weeks old. Of course, we couldn't leave him there
to die, so we took him home. We are not sure what we are going to do with
him, but we're pretty sure we are not going to keep him. He seems healthy
and happy. I do not understand how anyone could be so cruel as to abandon
a creature this small and defenseless. Well, we thought he was defensless,
until he attacked Sir Gailin. Click

5-15-2011 I have painted the walls in the kings chamber tower room. This
is the same color that the walls will be painted in the rest of the kings
chamber.
7-8-2011 The walls and trim have all been painted in the king's chamber.
The carpet has been ordered, and should be installed in about two weeks.
The doors have all been removed and painted. They will be re-installed after
the carpet is in.
7-13-2011 One of our deer friends showed up today with her two new children.
Their names are Prancer and Vixon.
7-20-2011 Our best deer friend Socks stopped by today with her new baby.
We were told that the name of the new baby is Comet. Comet was born on June 26,
so is about 3 1/2 weeks old.
8-13-2011 The nice people from JC's Installations (Lowe's) came to install the carpet in the King's
Chamber last week. I was so busy doing other things that I forgot to take their picture. They did
a nice job on the installation. The King's Chamber is now finished except that I still need to
hang a couple more doors and I also need to install the permanent light fixtures.
8-14-2011 We had a visit from our friends Tim and Carol today. Tim has been here before, but this
is Carol's first visit. Patty and I enjoyed their visit, we hope they had a nice time.
8-15-2011 We had a visit from some of Patty's relatives today. They were Gene, Carol, Donna, and Bob.
It's been a while since they have been here for a visit (this is Bob's first time here), and it
was fun to see them. Donna and Bob are here all the way from Mississippi.
9-28-2011 We are almost completly finished with the Duchess Suite now. The new (well, if you consider
100 years old or so to be new) furniture is now in place.
9-29-2011 Our friend Adam came up today to help out. He helped me move blocks and rocks.
I calculate he lifted about two tons of blocks today in addition to the rocks he moved.
He was a big help, thanks Adam.
10-6-2011 It's about time to get started building the chimney. This is wnat it looks now.
The 3 large openings are from the fireplaces in the Greeting Chamber, The Queens Chamber, and the King's
Chamber. The smaller opening is from the oil furnace in the basement.
10-6-2011 The first thing I need to do is to add a 2 foot section of flue liner onto
each of the openings.
10-6-2011 Our friend Mike came up today to help out. He's a good worker, and he
says he wants to come back again. He's welcome any time. Thanks Mike.
10-6-2011 This is what the chimney looked like a couple of hours later. We still have a long way to go.
10-8-2011 Our friends Sue, Charlie, Terry and Shereen stopped by on their way to the Apple Butter Festival.
We enjoyed their visit although it was short.
10-12-2011 My sisters Judy and Lois came for a visit. They came here all the way from the west coast.
We have not seen each other for a while, and it was a very pleasent visit. We hope they return soon.
10-18-2011 Now that all the company is gone, I have gotten back to work on the chimney.
10-23-2011 Our friends Bev and Frank came up for a visit. We don't get a cance to see them very
often since we moved up here. We are very pleased that they came.
10-30-2011 Mother Nature stopped by a couple of days early to do a little trick-or-treating.
She left 7 inches of snow on saturday. This photo was taken Sunday. The snow has already started
melting, and will probably be completly gone in a couple of days.
10-31-2011 Our nephew Willie stopped by today for a visit. He brought his good friend Ivy
with him. It was a short but pleasent visit and Galin enjoyed playing with Ivy.
11-2-2011 An 8 point buck stopped by to see what was going on in our yard. We are not quite sure
who he is, but it's probably Dasher. He was with our good friends Socks and Comet.
12-6-2011 We were visited today by
Marti Attoun (right) and her daughter Abby. Marti writes articles
for a publication called American Profile. She is writing
a story about castles that will someday be published in the American Profile magazine. Keep an eye out
for it if American Profile comes in your newspaper. Marti and Abby are both very nice, and Patty and I
had fun having them here.
12-10-2011 I was contacted by a man by the name of Richard Taylor a couple of weeks ago. He had found a
light fixture around his place that he thought might look good in our castle. I told him I liked the
look of it, and he was kind enough to send it up to us. I have just installed it in the king's tower.
Thanks Richard.
12-31-2011 We had a surprise visit today from an old friend. John Gabel stopped by for a few minutes
to see what we have accomplished lately. John is the builder of
Gabel's tower in Virginia. It was nice
to see John again, it was a fun visit (he's not as dangerous as he looks).
