SOLOMONS CASTLE

Howard Solomon built the castle and conducts the tours. It's covered with shiny plates that were used to print the local newspaper. He made his own stained-glass windows, too. He has built a restaurant next to the castle that looks like a boat. It's about the size of the Santa Maria (according to Howard). Good food. He has displays of his sculptures placed all through the castle. He makes them out of junk (oil drums, machine parts, discarded metal objects. There is a guest room that can be rented out for the night as well. There is also a nature trail that you can take about a 20-minute walk on. He works on his sculptures in the morning ubtil about 11:00, when the castle opens. He closes the castle during summer months to devote his time to his sculptures

The castle is located in Ona, Florida. It's about nine miles south of Hwy. 64 on County Rd. 665. Ona is just north of Arcadia, Florida. We drove there in about 1 hour from Lehigh Acres, which is about 20 west of Ft. Meyers.
