I was a Realtor based in Laguna Beach CA from 1975 to 1988 and Pyne Castle owners Dick Massey and roland Green were clients and Dick was a personal friend of mine. In 1968, President Richard Nixon looked long and hard at Pyne Castle to be his Summer White House, but the Secret Service called the poperty difficult, so Nixon purchased an estate in San Clemente that had housed a major Democratic donor (who had hosted FDR there) instead. Pyne Castle was badly threatened by the great Laguna/Irvine Ranch fire of 1991.
